The disclosure that ought to come first. WA Registered Agent.org wrote this, we charge $99 a year for Washington agent service, and we profit when a Swyft Filings subscription ends. Swyft's figures below are Swyft's own advertised prices, checked in July 2026 and reproduced without adjustment.

Quarterly Billing Suits Some Businesses

There is nothing improper about charging in quarters. A business whose income shows up unevenly may well prefer four smaller debits spaced through the calendar to a single heavier one, and a vendor offering that rhythm is meeting a real preference rather than hiding anything. Swyft states the billing period in its terms. Nobody is being tricked.

Then Set the Unit Right

The advertised amount for Swyft Filings agent service is $149. That amount buys three months.

Stack four and you are at roughly $596 for twelve months of coverage, with our July 2026 review finding no opening discount to soften it. This is the only complaint this page has, and it is a complaint about comparison shopping rather than about honesty. A $149 tile displayed beside a $125 tile and a $99 tile invites an assumption that the billing period quietly breaks. Annualize first. Then judge.

Priced in Washington's Recurring Charge

Washington gives every registered business the same yearly obligation, which makes it a useful yardstick. The for-profit annual report is $70. Six hundred dollars of agent service is therefore eight and a half of the only recurring payment your entity actually owes the state.

Formation is the other reference point. Washington's Certificate of Formation is $180 under statute, plus a processing charge the state adds for filing through its portal without publishing the amount in advance. So a single year of Swyft costs more than three times what it took to create the company in the first place.

Two rows are identical because the state does not care who your agent is. It wants $70 a year for the report and nothing at all for a change of agent, whether that change moves you toward us, away from us, or between two vendors neither of us has heard of. Everything separating the two columns is vendor pricing.

One correction to any impression that we are the bargain floor here. BetterLegal's published rate is $90 a year, under ours by nine dollars. Ninety-nine counts among the low published prices in this market; it is not the lowest one.

Twelve Invoices Versus Three

The difference the table cannot show is how often you get to reconsider.

One annual charge produces one annual decision. Once a year you look at what the service did, weigh it against what it cost, and either renew or leave. Four charges produce a rhythm instead of a decision, because no single $149 debit is large enough to trigger a review and the moment for reviewing never quite arrives. That is not an accusation about anyone's motives. It is an observation about how billing cadence shapes attention, and it applies to every subscription you hold, not just this one.

Our position is easier to state than to dress up. One invoice a year at $99, identical at renewal, covering a Washington street address that keeps yours off the register, same-day imaging of every document served, a portal holding all of it, and a warning ahead of the day your anniversary month runs out.

Ending Swyft Filings: The Washington Statement of Change

Washington's instrument is the Statement of Change/Designation of Registered Agent. There is no form number, because the state identifies this one by its title. It is filed with the Corporations & Charities Division, and you may send paper or submit electronically through the state's business filing system, with electronic submissions generally clearing sooner.

What it costs is nothing, confirmed in three places: the rule setting the division's fees, the published fee schedule, and a "No Filing Fee" box on the form that you tick to state the amount due. Expedited processing is available at $100 if a deadline requires it, though a filing with no fee behind it seldom needs the upgrade.

The form asks for the entity name, its UBI number, and the incoming agent's details, and Washington will not record the designation unless that incoming agent has consented in a record beforehand. We handle that consent as part of onboarding.

Now the ordering rule, which the quarterly cycle makes tempting to get backwards. Do not stop the payments first. A cancelled subscription does not take a name off the state's record; only the filing does, and Washington expects an agent named continuously with no option on the form for leaving the seat vacant. So enroll here, let the statement replace their name with ours, verify the change in the state's business search, and then close the Swyft account. If a paid quarter has time left on it, let it run out. Nothing is lost by overlapping for a few weeks, and a gap in the agent field is worth more than a few weeks of fees to avoid.
